Like just mentioned, NOW TV is owned by Sky, and it is essentially a TV version of Sky, but online.
Minus the bad channels. You just get all the good stuff like Sky Atlantic, where Game of Thrones is and the likes of Sky Sports.
But Sky doesn’t own Game of Thrones just like it doesn’t own the rights to the Champions League.
Instead, it pays for the rights to show the likes of the Champions League.
But when does so, it doesn’t pay for rights to show Champions League content worldwide. With Champions League content costing over a billion in the UK, if Sky had to pay for rights to show the Champions League worldwide, it’s safe to say it wouldn’t be around for long.
Sky has some original content, but the number of those is the relatively low meaning most of the content it shows, it pays for.
As a result, if NOW TV was to be available everywhere, most content on it would not be available.
Instead, what happens is that NOW TV blocks access to their platform outside of supported regions like Italy, the UK, and Ireland.
And now here’s out to unblock NOW TV Italia:
There are 3 steps to watching Italian Now TV outside of Italy.
1. You need to make NOW TV think you are in Italy.
2. Creating an account.
3. Downloading the NOW TV app, which requires changing the location of your app store.
To make NOW TV Italia think you are in Italy, you are going to need to use a VPN.
